Our Programmes IMPACT Hackathons

IMPACT Hackathons

Each Sprint includes a series of challenges accumulating in the final Hackathon. Students work in teams to address briefs linked to the Sprint theme. There are five extended challenge sessions across each Sprint.

Hackathons begin within Applied Learning Pathways, where students develop subject-specific responses. External speakers introduce the brief and provide commentary across each challenge.

Each Sprint concludes with a whole-cohort Hackathon challenge, with teams required to deliver their proposals as formal presentations.

Sprint 1:

ClimateX People vs Planet – Sustainability, Climate Crisis, and Societal Impact

Students examine environmental and social questions within a sustainability brief. The challenge requires teams to balance practical constraints with long-term considerations.

Sprint 2:

InnovateX Future Founders – Entrepreneurship, Start-Ups, and AI Innovation

Students respond to a business-focused brief, developing and presenting a proposal.

When I first heard about the IMPACT Programme, I was amazed — its innovative structure, engaging hackathon, and visits like Rolls-Royce make it truly stand out.

I never thought I’d stand up and pitch to professionals, but the Hackathon gave me the confidence to do it — and now I know I want to start my own company one day.

Perfect Ted

Sponsoring our InnovationX – Future Founders sprint

Theme: Entrepreneurship, Start-Ups, and AI Innovation

This Hackathon exposes students to the world of entrepreneurship, start-up culture and forward-thinking innovation. Marisa and Teddie, the co-founders of Perfect Ted, The UK’s No. 1 Matcha Brand, gained significant traction after its appearance on Dragon’s Den, where it received investments from Steven Bartlett and Peter Jones.

Perfect Ted co-founders will deliver a keynote address exploring the future of entrepreneurship, the opportunities emerging from new technologies, and the ways in which young innovators can turn ideas into action. Following the keynote, students will be presented with a real-world business challenge, inspiring them to apply entrepreneurial thinking, creativity, and collaboration to design innovative solutions.

Throughout the day, the co-founders will mentor the teams, offering specialist insights and practical guidance to help refine their ideas. The experience provides students with a unique opportunity to connect with leading professionals and to develop the entrepreneurial mindset essential for success in a rapidly evolving global economy.
