Our Programmes Leisure & Social Programme Excursions

Excursions

As part of IMPACT, residential students will enjoy a day exploring London, including an excursion to either Oxford or Cambridge, tailored to their chosen Sprint. These excursions are designed to offer both guided cultural experiences and opportunities for independent exploration. Each excursion is divided into two halves, each offering a range of options to ensure a well-rounded, dynamic experience. This structure allows students to personalise their day at IMPACT according to their interests and preferences.

The first half of the day will be staff-led, featuring a curated tour of key landmarks and attractions. In London, this may include iconic sites such as Westminster, Buckingham Palace, or the South Bank. In Oxford and Cambridge, the focus will be on the cities’ rich history and cultural highlights beyond the university colleges, which will be covered separately during academic visits. This might include botanical gardens, museums, or scenic walking routes.

The second half of the day will be student-led, allowing participants to explore the city in small groups or individually. This time encourages independence and personal discovery, giving students the chance to visit places of interest, enjoy local cafes, or simply take in the atmosphere. Staff will remain available for support and guidance, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. These excursions aim to foster curiosity, confidence, and a deeper appreciation of the UK’s cultural diversity.

The Full Experience

Students taking part in both Sprints benefit from an additional excursion, a full day at Thorpe Park, one of the UK’s leading theme parks. The visit offers the chance to share new experiences, strengthen friendships and enjoy time together beyond the classroom.

In the evening, students gather for a premium off campus dining experience with a senior member of Tonbridge School staff, an occasion for relaxed conversation and connection. To mark the transition between Sprints, each student receives a commemorative IMPACT gift and takes part in an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Tonbridge School, a moment to reflect on achievements and look ahead to the next stage of their journey.
